What do I need to bring?

Just bring whatever you like to work out in, shorts, T-shirt and clean sneakers are fine. If you want to become a competitive member, then you must become registered with Boxing Canada. Registration cost is $50.00 per calendar year and will allow you spar with other competitive members of the club. Fredericton Boxing Club is non-profit, therefore with try our best to pay the traveling costs for competitive boxers attending competitions.

How do I become a competitive boxer?

Becoming a boxer takes a lot of hard work and determination, and even then some never compete. Most people who work hard to learn the skills and to get into great shape can expect to be ready to compete, usually before they have been training for one year. Becoming a competitor you must spar for at least a couple of months and prior to sparring you must be registered with Boxing Canada and have a medical form completed by your doctor. Boxers will only be allowed to compete when the coaches feel you are ready.

Are there many competitions?

We travel between fifteen and twenty times per year to compete in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Quebec. We have also sent boxers to National Championships all over Canada as well as to International tournaments in places such as Ireland and Madagascar. Generally only more experienced boxers compete at National and International tournaments but novice boxers can travel around the Maritimes several times per year.
